In 1999 the Coeur d'Alene Church of
the Nazarene began to sense the need to take an aggressive step toward reaching
the greater CDA/Hayden area for Christ. In short, they saw the area and culture
as a true mission field. Under their leadership, as that vision came into focus,
it became more and more evident that the most effective way to accomplish reach
into this mission field was to plant a church. Like a missionary heading to the
mission field, this church would begin to identify the culture of the area and
begin to develop a church that responded to, and communicated in the language of
that culture. In the Fall of 1999, Paul and Leslie Barber, and their three
children Nathan, Bethany and Noah moved to the area to lead the planting of a
new church. There were 4 families at the time that felt a call to be a part of
this "missionary endeavor." After spending 6 weeks of preparation, we started
Worship Gatherings on Thanksgiving Sunday, 1999 with 60 people in attendance.
Since then, we have experienced continued growth.

We are affiliated with the Church
of the Nazarene, but we are a true community church at heart and we have a place
for everyone to worship. The community is our focus. The denomination is our
accountability both financially and doctrinally.

AJ and Paul are a team, equally
sharing the responsibility of pastoral leadership at True North. They are both
ordained ministers in the Church of the Nazarene.
Our pastoral
staff works in conjunction with an elected Leadership Team of six people from
within our congregation. They make spiritual and financial decisions. The staff
oversees the programming at True North, but the Leadership Team provides
accountability to the staff.
AJ's ministry experience began in
1980, serving in Spokane Valley, Washington; Kirkland, Washington; Puyallup, Washington; Pasco, Washington; and
Hayden, Idaho.
Paul's ministry experience began in 1989, serving in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho;
Camas, Washington; Lewiston, Idaho; and Hayden, Idaho.
We have many unpaid volunteers leading key ministry areas in our church. Our
current paid ministry team is:

AJ Anderson -
Paul Barber, jr.

WildSide Director
Liberty Williams

Someday, perhaps. We view this
facility as a "staging ground" for the future. We will creatively use it as we
develop an identity as a church family until it is time to move on to a larger
place, or build in the future. We are already involved in planning and dreaming
about what the future holds for True North, and we feel the purchase of
land and future building will happen in God's timing.
We don't have a traditional "church
office," but AJ and Paul are often found here or at area restaurants with their
"portable office" computers working on various projects. The rest of
the staff work out
of satellite offices located in their homes.
Our virtual offices have a real
advantage for True North. It cuts the space needed for administration in the
building, and makes it feasible to add staff without building more
offices.

We try to provide an atmosphere
that makes it possible for you to attend "anonymously." This provides you with
the opportunity to decide if True North is a place you'd like to call HOME. We
believe it is important to allow people to become involved at their own pace.
These are the steps to involvement:
| Attend anonymously to see if you feel comfortable
here. |
Pick up some brochures to find out who we are as a church.
Fill out an information Card.
At this time you will begin the process of being contacted
with phone call, and we will place you on our mailing list and email lists at
your request.
Accept our invitation to a Living Room event.
Attend a True North Orientation "Find Your Bearings."
Find your place of service.

WildSide
is our children's program for kids 4 years old through 6th grade. It takes place
during the message time. Wild Side is located in the building next to True
North. It is a unique, creative, imaginative environment. We take an active
learning approach which includes interactive lessons, activities and small
prayer groups.
Waumba Land is our ministry
for kids 0-3 years old. Waumba Land is available during our entire worship
service. This is a place where our little ones receive nurturing and love, and
also learn about the love of Jesus.
One Degree is where our Middle School and High Schools
kids hang out! They meet weekly during the school year, and have events
together often.

Foyer link!

We put offering boxes on the back walls of the church. We also offer
online giving for your convenience.
We do not want the first impression of
our guests to be that “we always ask for money.” It could turn them away
from our real message (that they matter to God).
While financial support is vital to the existence of our ministry, we
don't want money to get in the way of people's search for God.
The finances are managed by our Finance Team and are kept confidential.
They are not directly under the supervision of our staff members. For more
information, see our Guiding Financial Principles brochure at the
information table at True North.
